Brellock cafe-style umbrella support is a lightweight, stainless steel locking unit that securely locks and supports café-style umbrellas so your customers can be safe while they are at your restaurant for coffee or a meal. This unique and patented locking system has a base unit, which is set into a slab or deck and an upper unit that an umbrella is secured into. Umbrellas, which are attached to the Brellock™ unit are quickly and easily locked onto the base unit without the need for tools. Mounting and dismounting your umbrella is easily done in a matter of a few seconds. It also has other uses as listed below.
Standard Brellock cafe-style umbrella support units are able to securely support your umbrella in windy conditions and are able to withstand wind speeds up to 127km/h* with appropriately rated umbrellas up to 2.5m x 2.5m. Large size Brellock units will securely support umbrellas up to 4m x 4m in the same wind conditions. It is recommended that unrated umbrellas be dismounted if winds are likely to exceed 60km/h to prevent damage to the umbrella. Brellock™ recommends using umbrellas rated at a minimum of 110km/h to ensure the highest degree of safety. Please ask about rated umbrellas that are locally manufactured.
The Brellock™ unit is compact with no protrusions. It will not interfere with tables or chairs that are placed right beside it. The large, heavy, and unstable base plate or concrete molding of the free-standing style umbrella is eliminated by the Brellock™ unit's unique and patented design.
Brellock™ is an Australian patented design, engineered for Australian conditions and manufactured in Queensland, Australia. Brellock™ supports local industry.
The standard Brellock™ size will hold umbrellas with timber, steel, fiberglass, or aluminum shaft. The Brellock™ unit suits an umbrella shaft with a 40mm to 51mm diameter. The standard Brellock™ is designed to safely support an umbrella with a maximum span of 2.5 x 2.5m. The large Brellock can take umbrella shafts up to 62mm diameter and 4m x 4m square or 4.2m octagonal umbrellas
The Brellock™ base unit sits flush with the surface on which it is installed. There are no protrusions or trip hazards. The base has small slots that are too small for a 20-cent coin to go through. It is safe for people wearing high heels to walk over without getting tripped up. Young children are not able to get their fingers caught in the slots.
Brellock™ can be readily installed in existing concrete slabs of 100mm minimum for standard Brellock and 110mm thickness or thinner slabs that have pavers or tiles glued or grouted on top of the slab.** Brellock™ can also be installed on timber or composite decking or into a dedicated footing. Brellock™ base units can also be cast into new slabs. Our installation team will ensure the units are ready for use when installed and commissioned. We provide documentation and instructions to ensure you make the most of your new Brellock™ units.
Brellock™ Enterprises can fabricate and install removable wind barriers*** to border your outdoor dining area. The barrier frame is made from stainless steel or powder-coated aluminum, and the tensioned banner supported by the frame is able to be printed with your provided artwork.
The Brellock™ system is designed to support bollards to mount decorative fencing*** that can be readily installed and removed in panel sections. No tools are required to assemble or remove the fence sections. Each panel can be locked to the Brellock™ or easily unlocked and removed to store separately.
Fold-down tables are easily and securely supported by the large Brellock™ system, which will accept shaft sizes with a diameter of up to 62mm.
Brellock™ Enterprises has successfully negotiated with several councils for permission to install the Brellock™ units in council-controlled land, including Gold Coast Council.**** Council approval is not required when installations are on private land. Where the area is controlled by a body corporate, permission from the body corporate is required prior to installation. Brellock™ will supply drawings as required, at a nominal charge, to attach to the application to any governing authority from which approval is required.
* A maximum capacity of 127km/h wind speed is based on umbrellas that are rated for 127km/h or greater. Unrated umbrellas have less capacity.
** Conditions, such as the thickness of the slab, reinforcing, and the MPA strength of the concrete, may affect the capacity of the Brellock™ unit.
***Brellock™ wind barriers and fencing can be used to neatly define the border of alfresco dining areas etc. but are not designed as a safety barrier.
****Please contact Brellock™ to see if your local council has already approved of your Brellock™ installations. If required, Brellock™ will negotiate with your council for approval.
